The Soulful Stone was created to offer more than just a workshop — it’s a memorable, creative experience designed to inspire, connect and celebrate.
I'm Jayne, artist and founder of JAK’sArt, and I run hands-on carving workshops that bring people together through making. Whether you're carving with friends and family, marking a birthday or anniversary, strengthening bonds on a team-building day, or joining a session at a public venue, every workshop is personal and thoughtfully designed.
Using sustainable materials like aerated concrete, we explore a wide range of carving themes including seasonal pieces, British wildlife, expressive 3D sculpture, bas relief, and stylised figures.
My mobile workshop setup also allows me to bring the experience to you, whether it’s a private half-day or a full-day event.
For full-day bookings, I provide refreshments, cake, and a light lunch — and always take photos, make fun videos, and offer creative awards so guests can remember their day. It’s all part of the experience.
Workshops are open to adults and older teens, but due to the strength and dexterity required, they’re not suitable for very young children or those with limited hand mobility.
I aim to make sculpting accessible, affordable and sustainable — and with a bespoke design service available for custom themes or group needs, every Soulful Stone workshop is shaped around you.
I also offer gift vouchers for those who want to give a creative experience instead of a thing.

Hello! I’m Jayne — artist, maker, and founder of The Soulful Stone and JAK’sArt.

With over 25 years’ experience in teaching and a passion for accessible, hands-on creativity, I’ve made it my mission to help people connect through carving — no pressure, no pretence, just joyful making.
I run welcoming, beginner-friendly carving workshops across the East Midlands, including at public venues like The Galleria in Kettering and Created By Hand at Strelley Hall in Nottingham, as well as more personal sessions from my private carving room in Coalville.
Wherever the setting, my workshops are designed to bring people together — friends, family, colleagues, or curious individuals — for a shared creative experience that’s mindful, social, and surprisingly achievable.
We work with sustainable, easy-to-carve materials, and all my sessions are low-stakes and high-reward — no experience needed, and everything you need is provided.
Whether you're sculpting a Halloween pumpkin, Easter Island Head, a Highland cow, or a moon-gazing hare, you’ll leave with something you’re proud of, plus some lovely memories (and maybe a bit of cake crumb on your jumper).
